CCUW Women United: April 2024 Newsletter

April is bringing more than showers...

Winter is over. As Spring arrives, we celebrate Easter, Passover, Ramadan, and Holi. The rain of the past months has brought a Super Bloom in California and it’s time for daffodils, tulips, and hyacinths in Happy Valley. Women United is ready to embrace Spring with some upcoming events. Read more below.

Women United 2024 Grant Cycle

Thanks to your contributions we have $4,350 to distribute in the 2024 Grant Cycle.

Here’s how the Women United grant process works:

  • The focus of the grant is new projects that specifically support women and/or children.
  • Any nonprofit organization in Centre County can apply for the grant. It is not limited to CCUW Partner Agencies.
  • Applications are being distributed now and are due by May 3, 2024 at 5 pm.
  • Applications are submitted by organizations and reviewed (to ensure the application is complete) by the CCUW staff in April – May.
  • Interested Women United members will meet to review the applications and select recipients on May 31, 2024.
  • Organizations selected for grants receive the funds during the summer.
  • Representatives of the organizations meet with Women United members at an event the following year to share information about the impact of the grant.

If you are interested in reviewing application for the 2024 Grant Cycle or would like a copy of the application to share with an organization contact Ja Nae at [email protected].

Imagination Library comes to Centre County!

Centre County United Way is proud to bring Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to Centre County. Imagination Library of Centre County is a Book Gifting Program that mails a new book each month to children from birth to age 5 who live in Centre County. Thanks to our generous supporters at McQuaide Blasko we have secured the funding to launch the program. Supporting 1 child in Centre County costs just $26.40 per year. You can help give the gift of literacy today by making a donation to Imagination Library. Learn more below.
